How Soon Do You Lose Or Gain Weight After Being Really Healthy Or Unhealthy?

If I eat really healthy or really unhealthy, how long before I actually gain or lose that much weight?
I know it takes about 3500 extra calories one way or the other (burned or consumed) to gain or lose a pound. But assuming you ate, or dieted & worked out, enough in one day to gain or lose 1 pound (for simplicity’s sake–I know it wouldnt actually be healthy) how long would it take for your scale to note the difference? And how soon before your clothes fit better or worse, if thats a different amount of time?

    Hey,
You need to get on a diet & start getting in more exercise & make it a habit. In order to lose weight you must burn more calories then you eat.
So eat low calorie healthy meals & find a way to be active if its at the gym or out playing sports or walking with friends.
Also very important is motivation without it you will surely fail! you need to be motivated & dedicated in anything you do.
    Success is a habit!

The trouble with reading so much into the numbers of dieting is that you lose the big picture. A person can lose/gain 5 lbs per day just with water retention. The point of weighing yourself is to make note of gradual trends.
By dieting & exercising, you will gain a shapelier form quicker, even if the scale doesn’t see it. Remember, the muscles you build will add to your weight, but they look a whole lot nicer than the fat you are losing.
I suggest you simply follow the national food guide to a well balanced diet, keeping an eye on your portion sizes. Pair that with regular exercises, & you will be well on your way.
I have recently recovered after a decline in my health. Once my initial problem was resolved, it didn’t take long to recover my figure. Withing a few months, I lost an average of 1 or 2 lbs a week until I reached an acceptable weight. I had to buy new clothes then. After a few more months, I reached my ideal weight, & had gained enough muscle mass to create some nice curves. (more clothes shopping) I’m about a year into it now, & am pleased with my new found strength & stamina. I feel about 10 years younger. I also feel another shopping trip coming on. I went from a tight size 13 to a 9 this year.
