At 30 weeks I had gained 25 lbs & my doctor told me to only gain about 10 more for the remainder of my pregnancy! I got really nervous because I have been doing everything right – eating healthy, walking everyday – & I had still gained 25! Yesterday at my appointment, I had only gained 1 lb since the 30 week appointment, which made me feel a little better.
There is a period of time when you gain a lot of weight, then you should only gain about 1 lb a week for the last 10 weeks. This could be true for you too, hang in there!

I am still pregnant but I will tell you, I’ve gained 30lbs so far, I am 39 weeks & so far my weight has been the same for the past 3 weeks. It will slow down in the end..well at least it did in m case.
It really depends on how much you weighed prepregnancy & also HOW you are gaining the weight, for example if you are gaining bc you eat junk food then that’s not good weight to carry, & it will be harder to lose once your lil one arrives..but if you are gaining from eating healthily then you are fine.
I think the 25-35lbs rule is kinda insane, I know plenty of women who go over that…lol luckily I stayed within it (but it wasn’t easy..lol) I say your doing good..try not to have more lbs than you do weeks..(as in if you are 36 weeks try not to exceed 36lbs..)
Good luck!

With my first pregnancy I gained 35 pounds. With this one (I am 22 weeks) I have lost 10 pounds. I am eating a lot healthier with this one. I snack on fruit & vegetables & I eat until I am full not until all my food is gone (like I used to). I still give into craving when I get them & I eat stuff I probably should be swearing off but if you deny yourself what you want when you want it you will overindulge in it when you do get it.

Sweetie don’t worry at all….I gained almost 75lbs. It was so much fun & yes it was hard work after the baby to get it off but so worth it. I just went crazy & I was young didn’t know any better. But now I see myself walking everyday & always eating something healthy. Good Luck!

my problem is eating extra cuz i believe im eating for 2..
but this is not the case & a small meal is fine.. to keep our babies alive & healthy all we need to eat is extra cereal of a morning & drink heaps of fluid
I have put on about 6 kgs & im 28weeks i know its scary to think i still have 3 months to go & im already this fat lol but hey it may be all in your mind, a lot of woman do get a lot of fluid so maybe this is whats wrong in your case?

I gained a total of 27 pounds. They actually worried that I wasn’t gaining enough. As long as your doctor is not concerned, I wouldn’t worry. When you say he gave up on you, what does that mean? You’ve gained so much he’s not going to counsel you any longer?

so far ive gain about 15lbs.
i had horrible morning sickness for the first 30, yes 30 weeks

I gained 20 pounds & lucky to have gained that much since I was sick the entire 9 months. I would have given anything to have tour problem.
Some people just gain more than other. Try to eat healthy. Remember you are not eating for 2. It is more like eating for one an tenth.
My sister gained like 60 or more with her last one. It took a while for her to lose the weight but she lost almost all of it
Good luck- I am sure it will be fine.

I put on about 32 lbs total for my son & lost 27 within the first week after birth. At 23 weeks now I’ve only put on about 8 lbs but I’m heavier this time around in general.
As long as you make a half way decent attempt to eat well from this point on you’ll be fine. Most of the weight will be going to the baby now & you’ll be amazed how much drops off with the baby & fluids. Don’t worry unless you gain a whole lot too quickly & don’t worry about an occassional splurge just try to balance over the long term.
Good luck & congrats!

For #1 I gained 30#. I followed a strict gestational diebetes diet, basically limiting carbs, whole grains, lots of veggies & lean protein.
For #2 I gained 40#. I was still on the diet, but allowed myself to cheat occasionally. I think I gained more with #2 because it was a girl, no scientific evidence though. I looked horrible overall.
Really all that matters is that you have a healthy baby, don’t sweat it!

i gained about 30lbz i had my baby the day after my 36 wk check up so i didnt even make it to the full 40wks. i walked alot i mean alot!!!! & i ate really healthy i cut alot of bad stuff out of my diet. i ate mostly fruit n veggies. tried not to eat to much fried food bake it if u can drink alot of water & if u eat white bread change to wheat (the darker the bread the healthier & its good the baby) good luck

At 26 weeks I had gained 20 pounds. I am 37 weeks & have gained 30 pounds (as of last Tuesday). Just tell yourself that you are going to gain another 10-15 pounds, because it will most likely happen. Keep the calories up, but take walks & eat fruits & veggies.
Also, the way that I see it is that I have full use of my limbs. After I have this baby (and I am able to do some exercising), I plan to start running again. So, making a plan for after the baby is here might help to calm your nerves about the weight gain. I don’t think that you have gained that much, honestly.

I AGINED ABOUT 20 POUNDS THE WHOLE PREGNANCY
January 29th, 2010 at 2:21 am
i havent gained any yet, but im only 15 weeks. my OB said that theres no reason you should gain more than 3-5 kgs ( 6-11 lbs) which is your baby etc. but then again most women will gain weight.
Unless it is harming your baby, just take it in your stride. it is all part of it i guess.
January 29th, 2010 at 5:06 am
I gained 50 pounds. It wasn’t because I didn’t eat right or exercise either. I was 4 % body fat. I got sick all day every day but still ate healthy… It is hereditary.
January 29th, 2010 at 11:26 am
You are fine! Enjoy your pregnancy! If you are underweight then you can safely gain about 40lbs.
With my first son who is now 5 I gained 90lbs which is horrible I know! But I was 5′9 & 120 when I conceived.
I lost every single pound by the time my son was 6 months old.
I am now 26 weeks pregnant & I have gained about 20 lbs so far, but then again I was underweight when I conceived.
It is very hard not to gain weight with pregnancy, especially if you are hungry all the time like I am. Being a nurse I know I went overboard with my first son, so this time I am trying to only gain around 30lbs.
Enjoy your pregnancy, this is the only time you can eat what you want & get away with it.
Congrats!

I gained a ton…95 lbs with my first…I am a very thin woman, & they were worried I wasn’t gaining weight so had me on this odd diet, then all I did was gain…85 lbs with my second…and about 65 lbs with my third…and so far I am 11 weeks pregnant & have already gained 7 lbs.
As for tips….increase your fruits & veggies…take a daily walk ( this actualy helps in the long run ) don’t deny yourself anything…but keep it all in moderation…at 25 weeks 25 lbs isn’t all that bad…:)

I gained 19 lbs- lost it within a few days of birth. My friend who had her daughter a little more than a year before gained 34 lbs & lost her extra weight in about three weeks. Another girl I know gained 60 lbs, & three years later is still too lazy to lose the extra weight.
My advice to you, don’t eat for two- you only need 200-500 extra calories a day. That old “eating for two” adage is bull. You won’t starve your baby, because he’ll take from you everything he needs. Also, keep exercising. Two thirty minute walks a day are great. Drink lots of water. Also, get a new doctor because your doctor should always help you- it’s that whole Hipocratic Oath thing.

Please don’t worry about your weight. Just enjoy the fact that you are going to be having a baby. You have not gained too much.
January 30th, 2010 at 12:45 am
have never gained any weight, if anything i loose ,weight. but weight gain is one of the many essential parts of being pregnant. so i hear lol
January 30th, 2010 at 7:40 am
First pregnancy – 26 lbs
Second pregnancy – 22 lbs
Third pregnancy – 12 lbs
Each time I ate like food was going out of style & didn’t exercise. I just couldn’t find the time. With my 3rd I would eat 4 meals a day plus 2 or 3 snacks. My metabolism was off the chain! LOL!
First child – took me 6 months to loose all of the weight
Second child – took me a couple of weeks
Third child – within 4 days I lost all 12 pounds plus 5 more on top of that
I would recommending walking 3-4 times a week for 20-30 minutes. Nothing strenuous. And please don’t overdo it. But most of all don’t worry about your weight too much. Eat & snack when you are hungry & enjoy your pregnancy because it only happens a couple of times in a women’s life. In the end whatever amount of weight you gain is all worth it because it’s all for your beautiful little baby!

I’m 33 weeks preggo n ive gained 21 lbs.
it depends how much u weighed b 4 u got pregnant, if u were at a healthy weight u should gain 25-35 lbs. in the whole pregnancy.
if under weight more, if over weight less.
i would recommend u to drink lots of water & eat lean meats like roasted chicken, grilled beef or fish, & lots of veggies.
but be aware, while pregnant it is no time to diet..!!!

I gained 20 lbs altogether & I dropped it off within two weeks after giving birth.
